Thanks for this post Shannon. The story about the woman really convicted me. I have “everything” compared to her, and yet she doesn’t choose to think about herself. I get so caught up in my own daily struggles and trials that I loose sight of who I want to be like and that is Jesus. This woman is a truly beautiful woman and I want to be like that! Thanks for the reminder.

Hannah: Being in this woman’s home was convicting for me too. It made me realize I spend a lot of time focused on myself. It’s when we learn to get outside of ourselves and focus on others that we are truly beautiful. Loving others is also one way we become more like Jesus :)

I only recently found She Seeks, and I am so glad that I have! Thank you so much for sharing this lovely story on what true beauty should be…and what it truly is, Shannon!

What that woman did is so convicting and beautiful in my eyes. Instead of choosing to see nothing but flaws in herself (like I do so many times a day) and to think only about what she does not have she chooses to keep her mind and heart stayed on Christ and on how she can be of a help to others….that is truly beautiful!

I’ve struggled a lot lately with letting that number on the scale define me. Knowing that true beauty is being a vessel that holds and allows Christ within me, and that doesn’t focus on being perfect on the outside but has a heart on the inside that is truly full of joy is the true definition of beauty, has begun to change me as a woman of God. What I have in life, possessions or things, or what I look like does NOT define me. God defines me alone.

Many blessings, and thank you for posting this,
Sarah
